I provide counselling to individuals ages 6-17, tailoring my therapeutic approach based on your child's strengths and therapeutic goals. I provide parent consultation as a short-term or long-term treatment, depending on the level of child complexity and parent needs. Parent consultation, also referred to as parent training, is a highly effective standalone treatment, or in conjunction with counselling, for child & adolescent mental health concerns. By empowering you as a parent, and providing best practice strategies to work along side your child who is experiencing problematic behaviour(s), we will work together to develop an adaptive plan to best support you and your child.

Common areas of consultation include:

ADHD

Anxiety

Behavioural Concerns

Positive Parenting Strategies

about Mackenzie

I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta (#6489) with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists' Association of Alberta. My specialization in child & adolescent mental health comes from my wide range of experience working in various school settings, including as a psychologist providing counselling to school-aged children, consultation with families and school staff, and leading professional development for schools and system-wide. Before becoming a psychologist I worked as an educational assistant (complex behaviour), behavioural support worker, and family support worker, in large urban and private school settings. My previous roles, along with more recent work as a psychologist, have provided me the opportunity to support diverse mental health concerns/presentations and understand the importance of a collaborative approach. Through participating in the intake or debrief meetings during counselling intervention, or engaging in parent consultation as a stand-alone service, involving you as a parent(s) is a pivotal part of the therapeutic process.

My passion for helping young minds foster their intrinsic strengths and overcome life's many obstacles (no matter how big or small) has provided me with the privilege to see firsthand the remarkable resilience and capacity for growth every child has within themselves.

Every child deserves to shine

“We think that children act, whereas what they mostly do is react. Parents who realize this

acquire a powerful tool. By noticing their own responses to the child, rather than fixating on

the child's responses to them, they free up tremendous energy for growth.”

- Gabor Maté
